Age-Restricted Goods Policy (Knives & Bladed Articles)

Our commitment

Grove Sales sells knives, scalpels, craft and utility knives, replacement blades and other bladed articles for professional, industrial, craft and trade use. We comply with UK law on the sale and delivery of bladed articles, including the Criminal Justice Act 1988, the Offensive Weapons Act 2019 and the Crime and Policing Act 2026 ("Ronan's Law"). It is a criminal offence to sell a bladed article to anyone under the age of 18, and we will not do so under any circumstances.

You must be 18 or over

By placing an order for any age-restricted product you confirm that you are aged 18 or over and that the product is for your own lawful use. We operate a strict Challenge 25 policy: if there is any doubt about your age, we will ask for proof.

Business and trade customers

Grove Sales supplies mainly to businesses. The consumer verification and delivery steps below (two-step photo-ID verification and age-verified delivery) apply to consumer orders delivered to a residential address. Business and trade customers ordering for business use and delivering to a business address are not subject to these consumer checks, though we will not sell any bladed article to a person under 18 in any circumstances and may ask to confirm your business details.

How we verify your age

For consumer orders delivered to a residential address, we use a two-step age and identity verification process for every order containing a bladed article:

At the point of purchase — you will be asked to verify your identity and age using a valid government photo ID (UK passport, UK photocard driving licence or equivalent), together with a live photo/selfie check to confirm the ID belongs to you. A tick-box or a stated date of birth is not sufficient and your order cannot be dispatched without completing this step.
On delivery — our courier will check photo ID again and will only hand the parcel to the same verified person who placed the order, aged 18 or over.

We keep secure records of these checks as required by law.

How we deliver bladed articles

Bladed articles to consumers are sent only by an age-verification-on-delivery service.
They will not be left in a safe place, with a neighbour, or in a parcel locker, and cannot be left unattended on a doorstep. If no eligible adult is available, the parcel will be carded and returned for redelivery or collection with ID.
We deliver bladed articles to mainland UK addresses only and do not ship them outside Great Britain.

Bulk orders

Orders containing six or more bladed articles are monitored. We may decline, hold, or report bulk and suspicious orders to the police, and may require additional verification or proof of business use before dispatch.

Products this applies to

This policy applies to all knives and bladed articles, including (but not limited to) craft and utility knives, trimming and snap-off knives, box and pen cutters, scalpels and surgical/scalpel blades, and replacement/spare blades. It does not apply to non-bladed tools such as soldering iron tips, pliers, and wire side/diagonal/flush cutters, which are not bladed articles in law.

Refusal of sale

We reserve the right to refuse or cancel any order where we are not satisfied that the buyer is aged 18 or over, where verification cannot be completed, or where we have reason to believe the product may be misused. Refunds for cancelled orders are issued in full.
