Self-extinguishing inline pre-filter

The FireBOX MA is a self-extinguishing inline pre-filter specifically designed for metal-based applications to provide enhanced safety and protection from fire hazards. In the unlikely event of a fire caused by burning embers entering the fume extraction system, the FireBOX MA activates isolation valves, cuts power to the extraction unit, and suppresses airflow to contain the fire. If the temperature continues to rise, the built-in fire extinguisher is automatically activated.

Tested to effectively contain and suppress aluminium metal fires, the FireBOX MA offers vital protection for processes involving metal particulate.

Which BOFA extractor do I need for hand soldering?

For irons with tip extraction, the T15 serves up to 15 operators. For arms over the bench, the V200 covers one operator and the V250 two. Larger lines use the V600, V Oracle iQ or V 1000 iQ.

What is the difference between tip extraction and arm extraction?

Tip extraction draws fume through a tube on the iron, millimetres from the joint. Arm extraction uses a flexible arm and nozzle over the work. Both capture at source, which COSHH requires; a window does not.

How often should I change BOFA filters?

There is no set interval, because life depends on what and how much you extract. Change the pre-filter when the filter indicator calls for it and the combined HEPA/gas filter when the indicator or iQ display reports it. A fresh pre-filter protects the main filter.

What is a combined HEPA/gas filter?

One cartridge with two stages: a pleated glass-fibre HEPA section removing 99.97% of particles at 0.3 microns, and a treated activated-carbon section that absorbs gases and vapours. Laser and FumeCAB 1000 iQ versions reach 99.997%.

What is a DeepPleat DUO pre-filter?

BOFA's high-capacity pre-filter, with a large pleated media area that captures the bulk of particulate before the main filter, extending its life and keeping airflow up.

Which BOFA unit is right for a laser engraver?

Light use: AD Access or AD 350. Light to medium industrial: AD Nano. Industrial: AD Oracle iQ or SA iQ. Heavy duty: AD 500, 1000, 1500 or 2000 iQ. For a desktop laser the AD Base 1 or 2 doubles as the workstation.

Can I laser-cut PVC with a normal extractor?

No. PVC produces corrosive fume. BOFA's AD PVC iQ has coated internal surfaces and HCl and VOC sensors for exactly this job.

What does iQ mean on a BOFA unit?

BOFA's Intelligent Operating System: real-time performance information for the operator, downloadable data for evaluation, accurate filter alerts and, on larger units, airflow held steady as filters fill.

Are BOFA extractors noisy?

They are built for the bench. The T15 and V600 have built-in silencing, and the AD Oracle SA iQ is rated at 60 dBA. Noise figures are on each product page.

Does Grove Sales do LEV testing?

Yes. We provide LEV examination and testing on all BOFA equipment to keep your extraction compliant with COSHH, which requires testing at least every 14 months.
